Orval B. Staatz Jr.
Orval (O.B.) Staatz Jr., 57, of Herington, died Nov. 15, 2005.
Born June 28, 1948, at Herington, he was the son of Orval Sr. "Pinky" and D. Joan (Walters) Staatz.
He attended Herington High School then served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
On Nov. 15, 1968, he married Gaylene Brown at Herington.
He was a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Staatz.
Survivors include his wife, Gaylene of Herington; son, Troy Staatz of Herington; daughter, Kiffany Osban of Herington; two brothers, Kenny Staatz of Herington and David Staatz of Ramona; five sisters, Krista Pavek of Atwater, Calif., Kandi Groneman of Lincolnville, Karla Mann and Kathy Castleberry, both of Herington, and Kim McAsey of McPherson; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with the Rev. Troy Slater officiating.
Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with full military honors.
A memorial fund has been established with Dickinson County Hospice.
