Pam Speaks earns doctorate

Former Marion USD 408 teacher Pamela Carter Speaks recently received her doctorate in leadership studies from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.

Dr. Speaks formerly taught at Marion Elementary School.

Her three-year tenure at BGSU involved teaching pre-service teachers for the university's education department, earning her K-12 building administrator's license, specialist's degree in curriculum and instruction, and superintendent's licensure.

She currently serves as curriculum coordinator for Oregon City Schools in Oregon, Ohio, with an emphasis on instructional coaching.

She and her husband, Tony, who currently is an administrator for Toledo Public Schools, and their youngest son, T.O., live in Perrysburg, Ohio.

T.O. is a junior in high school and participates in football, wrestling, tennis, track, and rugby.

The couple's older son, Keith, attends Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., and serves in the Army Reserves.

Those attending the hooding ceremony Aug. 6 were her family, Tony, Keith, and T.O. Speaks, brother and sister, Dennis Carter and Karen Carter, both of Tahlequah, Okla., and Jim, Lynette, and Austin Cross of Hesston.
