Pickups collide at U.S.-50/77 intersection years ago

Three people escaped serious injury in a two-pickup truck collision at U.S.-50/77 intersection near Florence.

According to Marion County Undersheriff Randy Brazil, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, a westbound 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport pickup driven by Scott Yoder, 41, Augusta, failed to stop at the four-way stop intersection.

The driver ran the stop sign and collided with a northbound 2001 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Delmer Wilgers, 77, Palmer. Wilgers' injuries were cuts and abrasions.

A passenger in the Chevrolet, Gertrude Wilgers, 71, Palmer, suffered broken ribs and had to be extricated from the pickup.

Both Delmer and Gertrude Wilgers were transported by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital.

Yoder was not injured.

Florence ambulance, fire, and rescue personnel responded to the accident. Marion emergency medical services also responded.
