Police investigate thefts

An individual reported to Hillsboro Police Department that a video game player and games were stolen Nov. 8 from his residence.

Nov. 5: A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 400 block of South Adams Street, Hillsboro. Assistance was provided regarding a traffic complaint on U.S.-56 when a driver failed to yield to an ambulance. A camper hook-up was provided.

Nov. 6: Debris was removed from the roadway on D Street. Marion Police Department received assistance with an investigation. Officers provided assistance during a power outage. SRS received assistance with an investigation.

Nov. 7: An individual reported his vehicle had been hit with paint balls. A 911 disconnect in the 500 block of West Grand Street was checked. Assistance was provided to SRS with an investigation.

Nov. 8: A subject with mental health issues received assistance. Suspicious activity was checked in the 300 block of Willow Street. A camper hook- up was provided. A possible theft was reported at Hillsboro Middle School. Samuel Espada reported someone had entered his residence at 303 S. Cedar and removed a video game player and video games. The theft occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The loss was estimated at $150. SRS received assistance with an investigation.

Thursday: A complaint was filed of several disorderly subjects in the 200 block of West Grand Street. Traffic control was provided at Main and Grand streets. An individual reported an attempted identity theft. The victim gave personal information over the telephone but was able to change account numbers before any money was taken. A camper hook-up was provided.

Friday: Newton Police Department received assistance with an investigation. Citations were issued to two individuals in the 300 block of South Main Street for underage possession of alcohol. A welfare check was conducted in the 600 block of South Lincoln. A traffic complaint was made at Hillsboro Heights.

Saturday: A 911 disconnect was checked in the 400 block of North Ash. A civil standby was provided in the 300 block of South Cedar; subjects were arguing about possessions. A subject reported someone had thrown eggs at his car in the 200 block of North Jefferson. A citation was issued in the 500 block of West Grand for an intoxicated pedestrian. Officers investigated a drug complaint in the 400 block of East D Street; the case remains under investigation.
