Popular extreme contest returns to Chingawassa Days

Contestants are being sought to participate in this year's Rhino Extreme Challenge during Chingawassa Days.

A big hit last year, this year's event again promises to pique the interest of participants and spectators.

"It will be all new competitions," said event organizer Mickey Lundy, complete with physical challenges and "slimy, gross stuff."

A pair of contestants will vie for cash prizes and the title of Rhino Extreme Challenge champions by eating unusual concoctions and performing innovative stunts. Athleticism is not required to compete but contestants agree to participate in all aspects of the challenge.

Two people of either gender make a pair. One person must be 21 years of age or older; the second person must be 15 or older. Registration is required by May 22 at Tampa State Bank, Marion, with an entry fee of $10 per person.

Two preliminary rounds will be held June 1 with finals the following Friday evening on the Main Stage. Pairs will be eliminated until six pairs of competitors remain.

Judges of the competitions are rhino challenge committee members. Events are either time or weight related. All entrants will receive a T-shirt and a chance to win cash prizes.
