Post office theft solved; arrests made in others

Marion Police Department has been conducting an on-going investigation involving burglaries to houses and vehicles. These offenses have occurred during the past 13 weeks. As a result of the investigation, three arrests were made this past week. At least two additional suspects are involved in the case and will be charged. The investigation has solved seven aggravated burglaries, two burglaries (one that includes Marion Post Office), nine vehicle break-ins, four bicycle thefts, and one theft of lost property.

Sept. 26: Response was made to a fight between juveniles at Marion High School. Officers were at firing range for gun qualifications. Two juveniles were pursued on foot and apprehended in the area of South Third Street; they were questioned and one was later arrested for aggravated burglary as a result of an ongoing investigation.

Tuesday: A domestic dispute was reported in the 500 block of North Lincoln Street. Officers attended district court. A burglary investigation was conducted.

Wednesday: An outside agency met with officials regarding a person who was wanted on two warrants. A possible water leak was reported on South Roosevelt Street.

Thursday: A vehicle was towed for parking on a sidewalk. A harassment complaint was investigated. An individual was contacted regarding their vehicle door being left open; everything was OK. A subject was arrested for two out-of-area warrants.

Friday: A suspect was arrested who was involved in an ongoing burglary investigation. A statement was taken in a criminal threat case. Three junk vehicle letters were served. A warning citation was issued for a loud car stereo. A juvenile was arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor; two adults were charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Saturday: Four junk vehicle letters were served. A dog barking complaint was investigated in the 300 block of South Third Street. A criminal damage report was taken in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street. Two open business doors were found. A non-injury, hit and run accident was investigated in a city parking lot located west of the Elgin Apartments at Second and Santa Fe Streets.

Sunday: A road obstruction was removed at Walnut and Main streets. A 911 hang-up was checked in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street; everything was OK.

Officers drove 758 miles, and issued one warning citation, seven junk vehicle citations, and made five arrests.
