Rachel Lais

Rachel Lais, 93, of Wichita, died Jan. 19, 2006, at Medical Lodge Nursing Home, Goddard.

Born April 12, 1912, at Lost Springs, she was the daughter of Gotfried K. and Suzanna (Bernhardt) Bernhardt. She grew up in the Ramona and Lost Springs areas and attended Sunnyside School.

On Dec. 29, 1930, she married Robert Lais at Ramona.

She was employed at the former Tip Top Dairy in Hillsboro and later moved to Wichita, where she worked for Hyde Park Dairy for 25 years as a laboratory technician.

She was active in the foster grandparent program of Catholic Charities for eight years and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Norma J. Britt; three brothers; and four sisters,

Survivors include a son, Robert Lais of Wichita; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wichita, with Pastor Allen Hoger officiating.

Burial was in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
