Ramona plans 4th of July festivities

Ramona will host a Fourth of July event with a western theme, where anything from Lewis and Clark to cowboys and Indians will be welcome.

Afternoon events include a treasure hunt at 1:30 p.m. at Cheers II on Main Street followed by a tractor show from 3 to 6 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for best restored, oldest, best un-restored, best decorated, and people's choice.

A kids' carnival will be held at 3 p.m.

Food and concessions will be available throughout the day. Ramona Senior Center will offer cake, ice cream, and lemonade and will hold a cake walk at 6 p.m.

Registration for the parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the former barbershop on Main Street. Parade prizes include $50 for first place in floats and categories for single entries such as bikes, motorcycles, animals, etc. Entries will be judged according to how well they depict the theme of the parade.

The parade will begin at 7 p.m.

After the parade, "Bob and the Boys" will perform and there will be games at Cheers II. The Dirt Gambler's Museum will be open.

A bike raffle will be held. Proceeds will go to the bathroom fund for the city park.

At dark, a fireworks display will round out the day's events.

The event is sponsored by the Ramona Festivities Committee and area businesses.
