Random Thoughts

You who have read the Mitford book series will remember them. There is a new one out, "Home to Holly Springs," by Jan Karon. I enjoyed it. Many details of the priest's life when he was young were told.

Now I'm taking on a new book about General Eisenhower. It is heavy. The winter had better treat him kindly. This is a special hero of mine. I'll keep you informed.

Not long ago I read in the paper about a man whose dentures were stolen. He had gotten in a fight in a bar. His attacker managed to steal his teeth right out of his mouth and take off with them. I don't think they would fit his mouth. We hard of people in retirement homes losing theirs to another patient. I have heard of one man who lost his while scuba diving.

The other day I lost a single false tooth down the lavatory drain. Believe me, there was an emergency call for help and panic reigning until it was found.

The political situation is getting tiresome. They started too early. Now when we thought McCain was pure he gets slammed with some gossip. If you did some small foolish thing in your youth it is going to be found out and made public. Then you have to go to all sorts of trouble finding ways to protect your reputation.
