Random Thoughts

If you see something bright red, blue, and yellow flying about your house, it might be a pair of beautiful macaws, which were stolen from the Sedgwick County Zoo. Their names are Mac and Cheese. I'm sure they are very valuable. How in the world could a thief hide something like that?

After all my plans to watch the Kentucky Derby it all went for nothing. Just as I turned my TV on, everything went snowy. Wasn't that the pits? I was so disappointed. I especially wanted to see Queen Elizabeth and her hat.

However, there was good TV coverage of the state dinner at the White House. The queen wore a long, white satin gown and of course, a beautiful diamond necklace and her diamond tiara. She also wore long white gloves and wore them through the dinner. I don't know the etiquette for wearing gloves, do you? I remember in girls' school, we were required to wear hats and gloves when we went out.

We are all so depressed at the terrible tornado destruction in Greensburg. So sorry for the poor people there. I think I would just give up. Not them — they are there trying to clean up the debris and making plans to rebuild. True Kansas courage, hope, and faith.

We should thank our city and county fathers who, back in the 1950s, built the dike and the reservoir after the '51 flood.
