If you want to see something awesome, visit our library. The wonderful photographs of the Flint Hills are being displayed there. No way can I describe the gorgeous colors or the angles from which the pictures were made. The display is traveling throughout Kansas. I have always been jealous of the states around us because they have so much natural beauty. No more. We have the Flint Hills and they are simply beautifully pictured by this photography.

I have just read "A Thousand Splendid Suns," by Khaled Hosseini. What a great writer. He also wrote "The Kite Runner." This story is about the lives of two women in Afghanistan. It is so terrible you wonder how they take it. You are so thankful to being born in the good USA.

I have read several books about life in the Middle East in the last few months. Surely there must be some good men there somewhere.

As a child I remember going with my parents to a place in the woods where there would be a platform and a man would talk. I guess he was running for office. We also had a big picnic. Of course, there were firecrackers everywhere to scare little girls. I remember drinking strawberry pop and wading in the river.
