Today is Friday and tomorrow is Old Settlers' Day. I'll have family houseguests. I am really getting excited. There is the expectation of seeing of seeing many friends who will be gathering in Central Park.

I can't remember ever missing one, single Old Settlers' celebration. That heat would be about 70.

We used to invite speakers. Someone who had lived here long ago, or who was a well-known individual who had made good. I guess we got tired of that and just wanted to visit with each other.

Introducing high school classes of the past is a great idea. It gives the classes a reason to get together and people enjoy seeing them as they are introduced from the gazebo.

I think everyone enjoys the picnic in the park and look forward to the good home-baked pies.

Of course the weather has a lot to do with it. No too hot, not to cool, and please no rain. I just hope it will be a perfect day.

Back to reality. I am reading a novel that gives a picture of the French people during World War II. The story tells of the people fleeing Paris as the Nazi army approached and then under Nazi rule. German soldiers were placed in private homes and the families had to deal with that. It was a terrible time. No wonder the French are cool and unfriendly — they just haven't gotten over that troublesome time.
