Random Thoughts

Marion has never looked so wonderful. Christmas lights everywhere, a regular fairyland. And out at the Marion County Lake, they have outdone themselves. Just a beautiful fantasy. Wouldn't it be fun to fly over and get a birds-eye view?

I had fun reading the children's letters to Santa in the Marion County Record. I guess the children of today live in a different world. I never heard of a lot of the things they requested. What is a Dora doll, a Bratz, or an NCAA '07 PS2? I hope Santa knows. I guess I am in the wrong century.

One Christmas I made three big rag dolls for three of my granddaughters who were four or five years old. I bought new clothes for them and they really looked cute. I think my grown-up girls still have them.

Homemade gifts are so meaningful and always appreciated. Last year one of my granddaughters gave me a pretty scarf she had knitted and the other day a friend gave me some delicious homemade jelly. Those are the gifts that are warm and fuzzy. However, I don't turn down anything wrapped in Christmas paper.

The Christmas cards are a wonderful custom. So much fun to check the mailbox every day. Some are from people of which that is the only piece of news I receive during the year. I love to read their letters and see pictures of the family. May you all have a wonderful Christmas and a good 2007!
