Random Thoughts: Animal stories are intriguing

I suppose everyone has recovered from their bountiful Thanksgiving meal. My son Bud, his wife Lavonne, and I drove to Salina and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my daughter, Mary and her husband, Bob.

I'm always interested in unusual animal stories. Not long ago I saw an article in a paper about a cat named Bridget. I guess she was named that because she jumped 70 feet into the Columbia River in Oregon from a high bridge. She then swam 600 feet to shore. No one has claimed her but several have offered to adopt her. A woman in the state of Maine will be her new owner.

Then, a woman in Iowa was pouring coffee from the can into a canister. She thought she saw a toy but it turned out to be a small dried-up turtle. She said she was happy that it wasn't a snake. She already had made coffee from that can several times.

Aren't we glad Kingfisher Steakhouse and Lounge will be opening before Christmas? I imagine a lot of people will be making reservations for their Christmas parties.

An organization I belong to met in our beautiful library. Janet showed us new books. Many were tempting children's books. One was a Mother Goose book of all those great little poems. My old one that I raised my children on has gone to old books heaven, so I may have to order the new one just for memory's sake.
