Random Thoughts: Better shop at home

Have you checked your calendar? It is now December. Ready or not, Christmas is coming.

I saw where a man stole $200,000 worth of Lego sets. Do you suppose it was gifts for his grandchildren? No, he wants to sell them on eBay. Better do your shopping at home.

I just read a book that I didn't think I would read. I thought, what do I care about bike riders? Being a country girl I just rode my pony. Anyway, this book is "Lance Armstrong's War," by Daniel Doyle, published this year. I kept peeking inside it and finally just kept on till I finished it.

It is about Armstrong's sixth race in the Tour de France. It reveals the inside story of the international bicycle race. Armstrong's battle was with fate, fame, love, death, scandal, spies, and unfaithful friends. When I read that the post office was backing him with $9 million, I thought no wonder postal rates are going up.

Barbara Walters hosted a TV show about the 10 most fascinating people in 2005. I don't know that I agree with her choices. Who would you choose?

Another interesting show was Thursday night when David Letterman hosted Oprah, her first time there in 16 years. No doubt about it, Oprah rules the TV entertainment world and she is a great humanitarian. I think it is great that she is sharing her huge wealth to improve the world.
