Random thoughts: Don't take time for granted

In Parade magazine last Sunday an article appeared that I thought was very interesting. The writer was Mitch Albom, author of "Tuesdays with Morrie." If you have read that book you will never forget it. Anyway in this article he asked, "If you had one day with some one who is gone, who would it be and what would you do?" I know the person I would love to talk to would be my mother. There is so much I would like to know about her family and her growing-up years. When we are young, we are so wrapped up in our affairs that we just take our parents for granted. I remember bits and pieces about her life. I know there is so much-more and stories that I will never know.

Think about it, who would you choose? Mitch Albom has written a new book which will come out in late September. I'm sure going to watch for it.

I zipped through the murder mystery, "Virgin Small Plains," by Nancy Pickard. She is the lady who writes about mysteries in the Flint Hills, She plans to be here at our library in October. I hope I can meet her. I want to see the woman who can write those blood-curdling mysteries.

I have contemplated getting a face-lift before Old Settlers' but then no one would recognize me. That wouldn't be any fun. I just hope I can come up with names. See you there!
