Random Thoughts: It looks like Christmas

Perfect! Perfect Christmas weather, just like the kind I remember having when I was a youngster. I would put on my long underwear, tuck the legs in the tops of my long, black stockings. My shoes were fastened by my mother with a button hook or laced up with cotton laces. Then came a heavy coat and a red wool muffler wrapped around my neck and face. My head was topped with a stocking cap, sometimes with a long tail to it. Boots were pulled over my shoes. Oh yes, don't forget the mittens. They were held together by a cord and one pulled through my coat sleeve. That was the fashion statement of the early 1900s. I don't know how we walked. I guess we just rolled along. Can you imagine modern kids dressing like that? They would like a thin suit heated electronically.

Here is another cat story. This cat was found in a closed refrigerator and had been there about four days without food or water. After she was rescued she was soon as good as new. What do cats have that humans don't have? I've heard of children found in the same predicament and yet they don't survive.

Should we say merry Christmas or happy holidays? Should we close our churches on Christmas Day? Whose birthday is it that we are celebrating?

I say merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all!
