Random Thoughts: More bird stories

Well, I MUST add a couple more bird stories. Down in Green Valley, Ariz., in a big, beautiful Presbyterian church, a family of small owls has taken up residence. They are way up in a corner of the sanctuary. The congregation loves having them there and do all they can to encourage them to stay.

Some years ago, my friend Elsie Reinke opened her basement door and a duck flew right in her face. It flew from wall to wall, once landing on a beautiful bowl, an article from her mother, much loved and guarded. Elsie flew around opening windows and doors hoping the duck would fly outside. All the time its mate was out there quacking up a storm. Finally it flew out the open door, leaving behind messes and wreckage. Elsie figured it had gone down the chimney into the basement. She was mighty happy to bid it farewell.

I have finished the book about the Scots-Irish. I'm convinced they have done a lot to shape America. Many of them fought in the Civil War and of course, the many wars since. They were hard working and loyal Americans. Still are.

I didn't find my grandmother. I'm thinking of tracing her through the records held in Salt Lake City by the Latter Day Saints. I understand they have everyone's records. So wish me luck.

I meant to tell you who my special people are in the year 2004. I'll do that next. Maybe you remember the ones who impressed you.
