Random thoughts: Neighbor cleans up

Hey, I feel very important. I actually had a picture of the fallen tree inserted in my article about the big lightning scare in my yard. Jack Webb raked up a whole tub full of debris from my yard. There even were pieces of bark all over the roof of my porch.

Speaking of tubs, I read where one hopeful robber entered a bank, held up a tub to the cashier's window, and asked her to fill it with money. She refused so he took his tub and left.

I finished reading Julia Child's book about living in France. I just loved it. She must have written it just before she died in 2004. She was assisted by a great-nephew. The story is so intimate and well-written. I would think anyone who has spent time in France would really enjoy it. I got out my maps to look up the places she writes about. A lot of people think the French are cool and distant. They must not all be that way because she found them friendly and helpful.

Maybe your own attitude colors your relationships.

As a kid, I, along with my sisters, would wade in the little stream that ran through our farm. Sometimes we would bend a pin and attach it to a string and fish. The stream was full of sun fish and we would have a great time trying to catch them. It didn't bother us to try to put a wiggly worm on our hook. Children, especially those raised on a farm, are so innocent and full of adventure. That is, they used to be!
