Random Thoughts: The Bushes and Betty White

I have just finished reading "The Bushes." What a book! It seemed non-partisan to me, yet very interesting. It covers three or four generations of the family dynasty and is compared to the Kennedy dynasty. Now, that should start a debate. A lot of historical events are brought in, those which occurred in the last 100 years. Of course, I relate to many of the stories. It is an ongoing history and makes you wonder how it will all end.

Now I'm into more light reading. "Here We Go Again," by Betty White. It is a delightful account of the beginning of radio, TV, and movies, mostly TV. Betty was in almost everything then. When she started they used just one camera, now five or more may be used.

She was involved in several game shows. Remember "What's My Line?" Such fun shows. Some have survived. "Wheel of Fortune," "Jeopardy!" and "The Price is Right." She tells about the scandal in connection with "The $64,000 Question." Betty was about the first woman in the Jack Parr show and appeared many times on the Johnny Carson show. Of course, there was "The Golden Girls" and others.

Don't write Betty White out of the picture. I think it has been announced that she will appear in a new TV show. As she tells of the golden years of TV you live it all over again. Such good shows.

As far as I can tell, all is quiet on the Marion front.
