Random Thoughts: Where are the leaders of today?

Recently I saw a show on TV telling of the life of Churchill. Then I saw an interview with Lee Iacocca. Remember him? The Chrysler man. He has written a book, "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?" I have wondered that, too.

Churchill was an outstanding one. He led the British people out of despair during World War II. I put Eisenhower in that category. Some people way back, like Napoleon leading the French, Robert E. Lee leading the Confederate Army, Pershing, a fine general, Teddy Roosevelt with his good humor and optimism, Franklin Roosevelt, who saved us out of a Depression.

I know there are more. A woman or two who won the vote. I'm sure there are others.

None of them were perfect but they all had charisma and leadership qualities.

Now we hear so much about fraud in our government activities, like funds stolen from charitable organizations. People who steal from Scout groups and such. Where is honesty and truth?

I know there is much done in the health field. We hear a lot about scientists who discover new medicines and equipment to improve that area.

Let's hope that there are some "sleeping giants" who will come forth with great ideas for improving our lives now and in the future.
