Ray Waner

Ray Anthony Waner, 50, Winnemucca, Nev., died April 23, 2007.

Born Jan. 29, 1957, at Hillsboro, he was the oldest son of Ernest and Betty (Bishoff) Waner.

He spent most of his youth on a farm in Florence and in his late teens moved to Peabody. In 1979, he married Ronda Moore and they later divorced.

He lived in Yuma, Ariz., Grand Junction, Colo., and worked for Corn Construction as a heavy equipment operator. In the 1980s he moved to Nevada and worked for Hycroft, Santa Fe, and finally the Newmont Gold Mining Corporation.

Survivors include three daughters, Lena Hernandez, Sheena Acevedo, and Katrina Rogers; two brothers, Ronald Waner of Winnemucca, Nev., and Gene Waner of Marion; three sisters, Kathy Claussing, Julie Peters, and Janet Tremmel; and seven grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Friday and a funeral Mass was said Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Winnemucca, Nev.

A rosary service was held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Holy Family Parish, Florence. Graveside services were held at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Florence.

A memorial fund has been established with Hospice Care, PO Box 843, Winnemucca NV 89446 or Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, Canton.
