Ray Wendlandt
Ray E. Wendlandt, 86, died June 23, 2004, at Herington Municipal Hospital.
Born Dec. 18, 1917, at Herington, he was the son of Albert and Lydia (Berg) Wendlant Jr.
On Feb. 8, 1940, he married Bertha E. Brunner at Herington. She survives.
He was retired in 1978 from the Rock Island Railroad as a mechanic in the motor car shop. After his retirement he worked as an assistant funeral director for Donahue Funeral Home.
He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Maintenance of the Way. He enjoyed traveling and bowling.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Yvonne Wendlandt, in 1941; a half brother, Alvin Wendlandt; a half sister, Ella Mae Anderson; and his parents.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with the Rev. Troy Slater officiating.
Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Memorial funds have been established with the church or the Lutheran Hour.
