Raymond Kraus

Raymond Nicholas Kraus, 86, died March 6, 2007, at his home in Marion.

Born Jan. 26, 1921, on a farm near Schulte, he was the third of six children born to Peter and Clara (Weber) Kraus.

On May 22, 1946, he married Rita Friess at St. Marks. They lived on the family farm west of Wichita.

In 1951, they bought the former Sunset Stock Farm northeast of Marion. They remained here for 54 years, retiring in 2005 and moving to Marion.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Mark Catholic Church, Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Rita of Marion; four sons, Don and Leroy of Marion and Dennis and Paul of Wichita; two daughters, Alice Trego of Hampshire, Ill., and Lori Herzet of Marion; one brother, Leo Kraus of Wichita; one sister, Rosalie Friess of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Friday evening at Holy Family Parish, Marion.

The funeral Mass was said Saturday morning at Holy Family Parish, Marion, with Fr. Hien Nguyen as celebrant. Burial was in Marion Cemetery.
