Relay for Life is Friday
The annual Marion County Relay for Life will occur this weekend, from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday at the Marion High School track.
According to co-chairman Jan Helmer of Marion, 14 teams have signed up to participate. Some teams have as many as 15 members.
The "survivor walk" around the track will begin at 7 p.m. Friday. This will be followed by teams and individuals entered in the Relay for Life.
Reading of names of cancer survivors and victims will begin at 10 p.m.
Helmer said her expectations are high. She encourages everybody to donate to cancer research.
"I think everybody has been touched by cancer in some way," Helmer said. "If you get an opportunity, donate."
