Ride for Kids event is Saturday

The fourth annual Ride for Kids will be held Saturday at Central Park, Marion.

Motorcyclists will gather to participate in the event to raise funds for KVC Behavioral HealthCare, Inc., a foster care provider.

A poker run, barbecue lunch, vendors, and drawings are planned.

Registration for the poker run is at 9 a.m. with the last cycle out at noon. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Drawings will begin at 2 p.m.

A $25 fee will be charged for one poker hand, a meal, and patch. Extra poker hands are $5 each.

The public is invited to participate in the event. Lunch is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

To become a foster parent, applicants must be at least 21 years of age, single or married, and meet basic income guidelines.

Adequate bedroom space and separate bedrooms for each child are required.

Parents must have reliable transportation and be willing to complete 30 hours of free training.

Background checks with Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Child Abuse/Neglect Registry will be conducted on all members of households.
