Robert Hapgood

Robert "Bob" Hapgood, 65, of McPherson, died May 1, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Born Oct. 24, 1941, at McPherson, he was the son of Francis Byron and Edna C. (Hornberger) Hapgood.

He was an announcer and salesman for radio station KNEX which later became KNGL/KBBE Radio of McPherson.

He was a member and board member of the Kansas Music Hall of Fame and leader, founder, drummer, and current member of the King Midas Band.

On Nov. 13, 1963, he married A. Jeanne Esau at Lindsborg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Arlene Hoover.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of McPherson; two sons, Anthony "Tony" Hapgood of Kansas City, Mo., and Robert "Bobby" Hapgood of Lawrence; and two sisters, Sandra Lee Stapleton of McPherson and Arlone Wilson of Greenville, Miss.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, with Pastor Michael Fibranz officiating.

Burial was in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, or Kansas Music Hall of Fame.
