Ron Scott

Ron Scott, 75, Emporia, died Feb. 26, 2008, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis campus, Wichita.

Born Nov. 25, 1932, at Larned, he was the son of Ralph and Ninan (Shumate) Scott.

On June 7, 1954, he married Dolores Srajer at Tampa.

He was a psychotherapist, beginning his career with the Larned State Hospital, then in Great Bend, and later with Catholic Charities in Emporia. He retired in 2006.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Emporia; son, Richard Scott of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Debra Scott of Branson, Mo., Pamela Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls, and Rebecca Nottingham of Ozawkie; three brothers, Daniel Scott of Winston-Salem, N.C., Richard Scott of Wichita, and Kenneth Scott of Newton; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Friday evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia.

A memorial Mass was held Saturday morning at the church.

Memorial funds have been established with the Pat J. Bosco Achievement Leadership Scholarship at Kansas State University, Manhattan, or the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund.
