Rosa Thimm

Rosa L. Thimm, 82, of Beatrice, Neb., died Oct. 26, 2004, at Parkview Center, Beatrice, Neb.

Born Nov. 6, 1921, at Hillsboro, she was the daughter of John and Susie (Friesen) Bartel.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School then stayed home for several years to help on the family farm.

She attended Bethel Deacons School of Nursing and graduated in 1947. She worked for Dr. Ensz in Newton, before going to Brooklane Hospital in Bethesda, Md., in 1955.

On Aug. 30, 1959, she married Randy Thimm Sr., in Hillsboro.

The couple moved to Beatrice, where she worked at Beatrice Mennonite Hospital and Beatrice State Developmental Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Johnnie Bartel, and a sister, Wanda Swanson.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Jon Stewart of Lincoln, Neb.; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Amy Thimm Jr. of Firth, Neb.; two sisters, Helen Bargen of North Newton and Elda Bartel of Goessel; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at First Mennonite Church, Beatrice, with Pastors Florence and Weldon Schloneger officiating.

Burial was in First Mennonite Church Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
