Ruth Krause

Ruth LuJean Krause, 77, Emporia, died Aug. 26, 2007, at Presbyterian Manor, Emporia.

Born Oct. 12, 1929, at Elk, she was the daughter of Frederick Karl and Hope (Patton) Koch. She married Max D. Krause on June 11, 1948, at Florence Christian Church. He died July 28, 2000.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Emporia, United Methodist Women, and a life member of the Emporia Retired Teachers Association and the auxiliaries of Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 VFW.

She worked as manager of the student loan office of Emporia State University for 15 years, retiring in 1989.

Survivors include three sons, Max of Manhattan, and Chad and Keith of Lebo; two daughters, Kay Shandler of Emporia and Kathleen Carney of Plainfield, Conn.; three sisters, Loma Frederick of Hutchinson, Glenda Taylor of Marion, and Marilyn Blanding of Wichita; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Thursday morning at Florence Cemetery followed by a memorial service Thursday afternoon at First United Methodist Church, Emporia, both conducted by Pastor Claudia Bakely.

Memorial funds have been established with the scholarship fund of the Emporia Retired Teachers Association and Hartford United Methodist Church.
