Ruth Ott

Ruth E. Ott, 86, of Gypsum, died Aug. 25, 2007.

Born April 5, 1921, at Lewistown, Mont., she was the daughter of L.W. and Ora Obee. She moved with her family to Burns in 1934.

She worked as a telephone operator, bank teller, and school bus driver before marrying Lawrence Ott April 13, 1947, at Burns.

They owned and operated the Carlton Garage for 49 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gypsum.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003, and two grandsons.

Survivors include four sons, Melvin Ott of Scott City, Howard Ott of Apollo, Pa., Jim Ott of Castle Rock, Colo., and Richard Ott of Lindsborg; four daughters, Roberta Watts of Great Bend, Maxine Floyd of Kansas City, Jeanne Roberts of O'Fallon, Ill., and Janice Ott of Lawrence; a brother, Gene Obee of Burns; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were this morning (Wednesday) at First Baptist Church, Gypsum, with the Rev. David Walters officiating. Burial was in Gypsum Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with First Baptist Church, Gypsum.
