Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

When the weather is cold, it feels good and cozy at home, but we need to get out, too! So bundle up and come in for a good lunch and some conversation with interesting people!

We hosted the Marion County Senior Citizens board meeting Jan. 18 with almost 60 people here at lunch time. I shared with them this tip for when you're feeling anxious or tense: open up a box of Crayola crayons, one of the most recognizable scents in America. It will remind you of the joys of childhood. (Let me know if this works.)

Luella Popp brought treats for the birthday she celebrated over the weekend. Actually she said she had a birthday, not celebrated one. I wisely did not pursue that.

"Answer Your Cat's Questions Day," was Jan. 22. This included rules cats live by. Cat people will identify with these rules.

Darla Stonehouse, generations nurse coordinator, Newton Medical Center, and a co-worker, talked to us Jan. 23 about risk factors for late-life depression.

Darrell and Beulah Weigart brought treats for their 59th wedding anniversary.

Come join us for lunch Feb. 6. Our speaker will discuss low vision problems.
