Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

We are beginning to doubt the reliability of Punxatawney Phil, the official Groundhog Day weather forecaster. We are delivering meals to nearly 40 people a day. Don't start calling for free delivery. Our expectation is that people will eat here. Another choice would be to pick up a meal.

Sue Cough brought one of her art class assignments, a picture of Devil's Tower.

We've begun a new mystery jigsaw puzzle, "C is for Chocolate." There are two separate puzzles, but they are combined in the box. One is before the crime, one after. We think poison by arsenic is involved.

We had our first art class with Albert Steele showing examples of class assignments and techniques. Shirley Moore began right away to sketch and the next day brought in a wonderful drawing. The other person (me), sat and looked at the blank paper, totally intimidated. The art classes will be at 12:30 p.m. Fridays. Supplies are provided.

We had a treat-filled Valentine's Day, all on a volunteer basis. Elsie Reiswig made placemats with her computer. Treats were provided by Pauline Edmunds, Shirley Moore, and Virginia Bowers. Our silverware was cleverly tied with red licorice strings, an idea found by Henrietta Waner and completed by Madonna Schafers. We received a valentine from Charlie and Blanche Cowan, now living in Missouri.

Commodities were picked up by Gary and Karen Chaput on Valentine's Day, then sacked up for distribution by Ivanlee Timm, Keith and Norine Holtsclaw, Shirley Moore, Virginia Downing, Larry Blosser, Evelyn Jewett, Charles Montgomery, and Harold Conyers.

Come join us for lunch Feb. 28. Joyce Kellison will provide music on her keyboard after lunch.

Remember the AARP driving course here from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 5-6.
