Sassy Senior Moments

We've already voted — we're ready for spring! It was no contest really, no opposition to the big question, so the people have spoken.

We had a big Valentine's Day with ice cream for Wilma Gilmer's birthday and candy brought by Pauline Edmunds and Mary Hett. After lunch, Sue Clough and Madonna Schafers sang romantic songs. The pianist was Shirley Bowers.

The 2008 Walk Kansas team has formed. Senior Center Sensations are Norine Holtsclaw, Sue Clough, Rhonda Brenzikofer, Jean Bailey, Eunice Christensen, and Janet Bryant.

We celebrated two birthdays Feb. 18 — Virginia Downing and Ivanlee Timm. Since Jerry Kline was present and his birthday was the 17th, we sang to him also.

Mary Hett brought in an afghan she had made.

Senior Center Day was Feb. 20. After lunch Leonard Klassen sang two songs in German.

We'll be playing bingo after lunch Friday and Shirley Bowers will be in charge.

On March 5, we will have a program on low vision that was not given earlier this month due to bad weather.

We have a van going to the Crown Uptown Theater in Wichita March 6 for a matinee. The show is "Ring of Fire," a musical about Johnny Cash. It opened on Broadway in 2006 and features 30 songs made famous by Cash. A block of seats has been reserved. Call Shirley Moore, 382-3758 to get in on the fun. The deadline is Thursday.
