Sassy Senior Moments

It's hard to write a column while the coffee drinkers are whooping and acting up nearby. It must be a sign that the weather has changed for the better.

Senior Center Day was Feb. 15. Three of the candidates for mayor of Marion spoke after lunch. They were Martin Tice, Mary Olson, and Nick Nickelson. Their remarks were well-received. Candidate David Colburn was detained on the 15th, so addressed us the next day.

Wilma Gilmer celebrated her birthday with us.

The 2007 Walk Kansas team was announced: Madonna Schafers, Rhonda Brenzikofer, Thelma Blosser, Virginia Downing, Norine Holtsclaw, and Janet Bryant.

The art class met after lunch, changing to Friday from now on. Several are taking classes at Butler Community College here in town, and can do their homework plus show others the techniques needed.

Ivanlee Timm brought treats for his birthday, which was Feb. 18.

The solution to the mystery jigsaw puzzle was read. No, the butler didn't do it.

Four women from here went to Lyons Feb. 20 to attend the 40s-plus dance. We've been invited to their monthly dances, but this was the first group to attend. Shirley Moore, Madonna Schafers, Marilyn Stegall, and Marie Hoffner had a great time. I bet a group will go again next month. Watch for information.

Shirley Bowers presented a musical program Feb. 21. She played the piano as a soloist and was joined by Ellen Darrow for some duets.

Join us for lunch March 7. The program will be by Janet Ingram, Avon outreach nurse, Salina Regional Health Center.

Join the group gong to the dance March 14 at the Salina Moose Lodge. Call for more information, 382-2942.
