Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center correspondent

Everyone can rest easy since head cook Henrietta Waner and I received our yearly training May 24 in Salina. Salina Senior Center is located in the former county courthouse, a very interesting facility. We learned how to use a fire extinguisher, be prepared for a flu pandemic, and the importance of hand washing. There were 80 senior center cooks and managers in attendance.

Meanwhile, Ralph and Luella Popp took meal reservations and had the opening lunch remarks for the day.

We could use another FISH (Friends I Should Help) volunteer driver. Tuesdays and Fridays are scheduled to take people locally to doctors' appointments, beauty shop, grocery shopping when requested. Call Virginia Downing at the senior center for more information.

Shirley Bowers brought a cake from David Bowers' birthday to share.

Customer satisfaction surveys are available.

Dennis Burch of Lincolnville sang gospel music May 30. Eight women from Lincolnville came to the center to eat and be his fan club.

Join us June 13 when Roger Megli will provide a musical program. He is chaplain at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
