Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We helped June Jost celebrate his 90th birthday for two days! He brought treats Aug. 30 for us and played his musical birthday card. His actual birthday was Aug. 31 and he had a decorated cake delivered for us. His daughters, Gaila, Donna, and Rita joined him for lunch.

We had handouts about portion control and the idea that "ultimate colossal all-you-can-eat" isn't necessarily better.

Gene Vinduska provided accordion and vocal music Sept. 5 for an appreciative crowd.

Come join us Sept. 19 for lunch on Senior Center Day. The program will be given my scrimshaw artist Mark DeCou.

Remember to call for an appointment with the VA representative who will come Tuesday if there is a need.

Last week's news

Our interior walls are now freshly painted and the decor committee is planning what goes back on the walls. Come see how bright and shiny we are, including all of us who eat here.

We have a new Meals on Wheels volunteer, Fred Puttroff, who accompanies John Lynch on Thursdays. We deliver approximately 45 meals each day.

Teresa Huffman, Marion County Economic Development Director, spoke to us Aug. 29. She talked about each community having different needs and assets. There were many questions and suggestions.

Ragsdales are weekend visitors

Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Macy were Mr. and Mrs. Brent Ragsdale, Blaine, Logan, Jeremy, and Vivian of Shawnee.
