Sassy Senior Moments

We celebrated a new grandma this week. Jayne Gottschalk, Marion County Department for Elderly director, welcomed her first grandchild, a boy, Brinnon Karter Ekum, born Sept. 11.
We heard from Estelle McCarty, who is on a trip and reported arriving safely. Blanche and Charlie Cowan wrote from their Stockton, Mo., home, sending copies of the senior center's newsletters. Blanche submitted one of Marion's Sassy Senior Moments columns, which was printed for them to see.
We have a display set up for National Shingles Month so if you need information, come by.
Eula Colle celebrated her birthday with us Sept. 12. Our speaker that day was Mary Olson, mayor of Marion. She told about the state of the city.
We have Elvis-motif fabric to be made into pillowcases or whatever to be sold at the annual meeting Oct. 18, for Christmas, and on our Elvis birthday celebration Jan. 8.
We have changed our melodrama performance to Sept. 27 in order for the villain to be present. Our talent is so abundant we may have two melodramas that day!
