Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center correspondent

We have celebrated birthdays, a 50th wedding anniversary, 100 years of the county courthouse, and flowers in bloom.

Pauline Edmonds brought treats to celebrate husband Bob's birthday Sept. 29. We sang loud enough so he could hear us at Marion Manor.

We had Marquetta Eilerts of Peabody and Harold Jost of Hillsboro as guests that day. They came from the courthouse festivities. Noreen Weems introduced them. They, and others at the center, shared courthouse stories. They included June Jost, Lois Jost, Lois Johnson, and Estelle McCarty.

Joyce Kellison brought her blooming orchid on Oct. 2. Later in the week, Noreen Weems and Lanell Hett brought vases of dahlias. They had been brought in by someone in McPherson.

Shirley Bowers brought homemade cookies Oct. 3, for her birthday.

Thelma Blosser brought Halloween decorations for the top of the organ. We have a creepy vampire playing an organ and lots of spiders.

Lenora Smith's birthday was Oct. 4.

We sang happy 50th anniversary to Vern and Arlene Bowers.

Steve Jansen of Urban Financial Group of Wichita, spoke about reverse mortgages. Later that day, Sue Clough taught a group how to play the hand and foot card game.

We have a trip to Salina Oct. 16, and another trip Oct. 26 to Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. Call if you are interested in the outings.

Lanell Hett and I are thinking about going in the design business after receiving flowers from Harold and Virginia Bowers. Lanell made the parade sign for the Marion High School class of 1931 and I helped with the woods.

Bennie Holtsclaw will provide a musical program Oct. 18.
