Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We had a very successful annual meeting of Marion County senior citizens Oct. 18. There were 109 in attendance. Kansas Dept. on Aging director Kathy Greenlee was the speaker for the event.

A group from here went to Rolling Hills near Salina Oct. 19. They had a wonderful day. Those going from our center were Larry and Thelma Blosser, Harold and Vivian Conyers, Roger and LaDonna Giesbrecht, Keith and Norine Holtsclaw, Evelyn Jewett, Leonard Klassen, Shirley Moore, Rowena Olsen, Dorothy Conyers, and Lenora Smith.

We welcomed Hilltop residents Oct. 24 for lunch. We like groups coming here! We enjoyed a musical program by Josh Wesner with his daughter, Abby, by his side.

Put Monday on your calendar to come to our fish fry, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Students from Marion High School family and consumer science class will have a nutrition presentation Nov. 7.

Last Week's News

Norma Woerz and Herman Unruh celebrated birthdays with us this week.

Harold Bowers told me an interesting tidbit: Table number one has five people over the age of 90 — Herman and Iva Unruh, June and Lois Jost, and Harold, "all physically capable of walking up to the counter to get their meals" as Harold proudly said.

We have Christmas wreaths for sale, created by Larry and Thelma Blosser and Shirley Moore. There originally were five wreaths but one sold immediately. Some have lights. Come look at them.
