Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

We learned 20 ways to handle stress. Our favorite was "when someone tells you to have a nice day, say you have other plans."

Our second annual Fork Day was Oct. 26. We had fork trivia, a fork display, and a special song. Those bringing forks were Dorothy Conyers, Keith Holtsclaw, Luella Popp, and others. June Jost told a fork story.

We celebrated June and Lois Jost's 69th wedding anniversary Oct. 29. The actual date was Oct. 28. That's a lot of years.

We had a dining room volunteer from McPherson Oct. 30. Nancy Karst is a consultant with Hospice Care of Kansas. She has been a volunteer all her life.

There are framed photos on one of our walls taken on Old Settlers' Day. They include the senior citizens' float and June Jost on horseback.

Mary Ann Timm celebrated her birthday and she and Ivanlee celebrated their anniversary, all on Oct. 31.

If you receive the AARP Kansas update, notice the article about Thelma Blosser.

There were witches, a clown, two Antarctica explorers, a doctor, and a Red Hat lady here on Halloween. Henrietta Waner whipped up a chocolate cake for us. We had a dramatic reading with appropriate sounds, a coffin joke, and the pumpkin prayer to close.

Come join us Nov. 14 for lunch when Brett Billings will be singing songs from the Marion High School musical.
