Sassy Senior Moments

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We had a successful fish fry fund-raiser Nov. 5, making fish lovers happy.

When we had beef stew on the menu last week, it was enhanced with homegrown carrots from Harold Conyers' garden.

We've been doing music of the past trivia for several days. We finally had to concoct a question to agree with Theresa Graham's everyday answer of "Gladys Knight and the Pips." If you know one answer for sure, there has to be a question for it.

Larry and Thelma Blosser had a display of items from their trip to Arkansas.

Elsie Reiswig brought in treats Nov. 2 to celebrate her October birthday. Henrietta Waner baked cookies for us in honor of her Nov. 7 birthday.

Today, Thursday, we have a new all-time high of meals on wheels of 54 meals!

Commodities were bagged up by Ivanlee Timm, Lois Jost, Virginia Downing, Joyce Kellison, and Harold Conyers. Larry and Thelma Blosser had picked them up in Council Grove that morning.

Marion High School Family and Consumer Science teacher Myrta Billings brought two students, Audra Allen and Amber Ratzloff to do a program on "brain blitz." We each introduced ourselves and spelled our first name backward. We were very good at this. Then there were word games, reading a recipe upside down, and other suggestions for keeping our minds sharp.

Come join us Tuesday for our Thanksgiving meal. On Nov. 21, Senior Center Day, Father Hien Nguyen will tell of his experiences prior to coming to this country.
