Sassy Senior Moments

We hosted the Marion Senior Citizens County Board meeting Dec. 15 with 60 people eating. The Christmas placemats and napkins were provided by Shirley Bowers.

That day also was Ellen Darrow's birthday. She provided candy canes.

On Dec. 18 the newsletter crew came in and worked efficiently as always. The crew consisted of Ivanlee Timm, Jane Makovec, Evelyn Jewett, Sue Clough, Nora Richter, Virginia Downing, Elsie Reiswig, Norma Woerz, Albert Steele, and supervisor Lanell Hett.

Sue Clough brought in a couple pieces of art she created for the Butler art class.

We had a farewell party for Charlie and Blanche Cowan Dec. 20. Henrietta Waner baked a cake. Marilyn Geis was in charge of the program. Ellen Darrow played the "Missouri Waltz." (Cowans are moving to Missouri.) We sang that song and one with the special words to the tune of "Home on the Range." There was a goodbye-in-any-language skit performed by Virginia Downing, Charles Montgonery, Ralph and Luella Popp, Sue Clough, Janet Bryant, and Richard and Joyce Kellison. Marsha Cowan was present and took many photos for her parents to remember everyone.

There is a correction for last week. Luella Popp won the penny contest.

We will be closed on Jan. 1. Join us for lunch Jan. 3, when our program will be Sue Clough, vocalist.

Plan on being here Jan. 8 for Elvis' birthday! Marc Baker, teenage Elvis will perform at 6 p.m. We will have sloppy joes, chips, and pop on sale for a light supper, This will benefit out senior center.
