Sassy senior moments: Karaoke brings out talent at senior center

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

This has been a good and fun week with some new people coming to eat and to see if this indeed is a lively place to be.

We had a large crowd Sept. 14 and a wonderful program. Mike Hadley who lives in Wichita and camps at Marion Reservoir, brought in high-tech karaoke equipment. He has 500 songs on CDs. He sang a number of songs in various styles.

Then the fun began with a number of people willing to perform. Some of them performed several times. Estelle McCarty, Marilyn Geis, Virginia Downing, and Al and Gloria Ash all entertained us. There also was some rock 'n' roll going on with Janet Hadley and Gayle Crawford. Gayle is from Utah and is visiting her sister, Joyce Kellison.

We've started a sign-up sheet for various games such as dominoes, Scrabble, pitch, and checkers. We already have bridge and pinochle groups. If you've been looking for someone to join in for this type of activity, come in and sign up or give us a call at 382-2942.

Join us Sept. 28 when Max Dunn will entertain us.
