April 13-19

Keith and Norine Holtsclaw were in Oklahoma for several weeks. When they returned, each brought a painting to put on our easels.

The flowers are blooming and people are sharing a bloom or two with us. Beulah Weigart brought in a purple iris and Lydia Batt brought a blue hydrangea blossom.

Plant appreciation day was Thursday so everyone was to go home and talk to their houseplant or hug it or take it for a walk.

Theresa Graham began cooking Friday for us with Madonna Schafers as assistant cook. Henrietta Waner continues as head cook, but now can take days off and let Theresa prepare meals.

Wear-your-pajamas-to-work day was Tuesday, but we didn't know ahead of time. We also decided most of us wore night wear other than pajamas or our pajamas were not suitable to wear to work. A missed opportunity.

We had a fascinating program on beekeeping by Norman Ensz and wife, Dot on Senior Center Day. It seems bees live a highly specialized life with specific duties. We learned they need a lot of water to drink and are sensitive to chlorine in the water. We appreciate our jars of honey even more.

When you read this we will be in the middle of National Volunteer Week, recognizing various volunteers almost every day of that week. Volunteers make a difference every day.
