Sassy senior moments: Many attend senior citizens annual lunch and meeting

By JANET BRYANT

We survived the annual meeting of Marion County Senior Citizens. There were 115 here for lunch, including representatives from health care facilities, county commissioners, Mayor Martin Tice, our silver-haired legislator Howard Collett, and other important people. During lunch we received a phone call from the Salina Journal, asking our opinion on a casino in Marion County. I let Collett respond for us.

We talked about Reptile Awareness Day which was Oct. 22. Later that day some out-of-state people came in and bought every set of tea towels in the place. We ordered 100 tea towels to begin embroidering for our next customers.

One of our regular diners told a story on herself. She went to our greeting card corner to buy a card. Then she couldn't remember who it was for or even if she should buy a birthday, get well, or sympathy card.

We celebrated National Dessert Day Oct. 26. Anyone who wanted could bring a dessert. It was a big success. Woody Crawshaw suggested, quite sincerely, that we have dessert day a minimum of twice a week.

Nancy Pihl gave the program.

Join us Nov. 9 when Madonna Schafers and Sue Clough will provide vocal music after lunch.
