Sassy senior moments: Seniors enjoy DVD of Scarecrows on Parade

By JANET BRYANT

Dec. 1-7

The cold weather has affected our attendance, but we always have fun. More people means even more fun.

We watched the DVD of the California Girls' scarecrow contest entries in several small towns in the county. A couple other towns want to participate next year.

Valera Morgan started volunteering in the dining room and John Hayen helps deliver meals. Many people help keep the senior center going by donating paper towels for placemats or coffee to drink or pennies for our penny jar.

Marvin Hett celebrated his birthday Thursday with us and Richard Kellison celebrated Wednesday. Woody Crawshaw also spoke on the casino issue.

We remind you the senior center is closed whenever schools are closed due to weather.

Just so everyone can plan ahead, we will be celebrating Elvis' birthday Jan. 9. His birthday is Jan. 8. We will play Elvis music and have items on display. Our program will be given by Mary Settle of Assaria who is president of an Elvis fan club and who has a special Elvis room in her house. Dress appropriately.

Join us for lunch Dec. 21 for Senior Center Day and our talent show. Our first entrant is Harley, Lanell Hett's poodle. He will do tricks wearing his Christmas outfit.
