Sassy Senior Moments: Sing-alongs are in demand

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We've welcomed two groups of people who chose to eat with us. The Marion County Retired School Personnel requested a Shirley Bowers sing-along for their program. Rosie Plenert sang a solo as part of the program. Ellen Darrow was the accompanist.

It also was "National Men Make Dinner Day."

The retired hospital personnel ate with us Nov. 9. If you are in a group that would like to eat with us and have your meeting, give me a call.

There are two paintings on our easels, both by Keith Holtsclaw. One is of a praying mantis on a yellow flower.

We celebrated two birthdays Nov. 7, Henrietta Waner and Darrel Helmer. Darrel turned 60 years old that day and become one of our registered diners.

The last day to bid on the names quilt is noon Nov. 23. The winner will be announced during the lunch hour.

I met with the other county senior center managers in Hillsboro this week. I took along the words to our fork song and persuaded them to sing along.

We have assorted boxes to give away. Ivanlee Timm has a holiday special on shallow short boxes ideal for delivering baked goods.

Gary and Karen Chaput went to Council Grove to pick up commodities. The crew sacking them for distribution included Leonard Klassen, Blanche and Charlie Cowan, Albert Steele, Evelyn Jewett, Marilyn Geis, Ivanlee Timm, Noreen Weems, and Virginia Downing.

Make a reservation for our Thanksgiving dinner, scheduled for Tuesday.
