Sassy Seniors: Holtsclaws share paintings with senior crowd

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

We had a very good week with 45-50 people eating together every day. The senior center is one of the best kept secrets in town. Not only do we serve a good meal inexpensively, but we have good conversation and lots of fun. Age isn't the only factor for eating with us. One also can order takeout and eat at your workplace or in the park.

We celebrated two birthdays this week, Frances Kreutziger, July 25, and Ralph Popp, July 26.

Paintings were brought in for our easel by Keith and Norine Holtsclaw. They each choose a different style and subject when they paint and then share with us.

Wednesday was "take your houseplants to work day." With a little advance planning I envision us getting together to do this in 2006, strolling on Main Street, Marion, with our plants.

We had a surprise program Wednesday after lunch. Madonna Schafers sang a selection of hymns. She was accompanied by Shirley Bowers.

We have our penny jar full again and are in the process of guessing the amount of money in it. An almost fabulous prize will be won the second week of August.

A new kitchen range was purchased with memorial money for Rosalie Klassen. This stove is provided for those who rent the facility.

Come join us for lunch Aug. 10. There will be a musical program/sing-along after lunch.
