Scarecrows take over Ramona

More than a dozen "scarecrows" can be seen in Ramona this Halloween season. They aren't all that scary, but they do grab one's attention.

Several of the displays are lighted at night. Sheriff Lee Becker said he did several double-takes while patrolling Ramona streets at 4 a.m. one day. He spotted a man climbing a ladder onto the roof of a house, but then realized it was just a dummy.

A boat pulling a water skier, people raking lawns, a senior citizen using a walker, and people on riding mowers and tractors are among the scenes displayed. Some are pictured here.

The California Sisters outfitted a little barbershop on Main Street. Curly's Barber Shop features the barber giving a man a shave and another customer sitting nearby reading a newspaper.

Drive to Ramona to cruise the streets, see the sights, and show support for the effort residents make to liven their community. The town is located eight miles north of 290th on Quail Creek Road.
